Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India is ready to legally repatriate illegal immigrants. He held key discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump during his visit to the United States.
During the joint press conference, PM Modi made significant remarks on illegal immigration. He announced that Indians residing illegally in the U.S. would be brought back to India. He emphasized that individuals who enter a country unlawfully do not have the right to stay there, and this principle applies globally. The recent deportation of 104 Indians from the U.S., where they were restrained with handcuffs and leg chains, sparked controversy. In this context, Modi discussed the migrant issue with Trump, highlighting that many youth and impoverished individuals are deceived into becoming illegal immigrants due to false job promises, leading to human trafficking. He expressed hope for full cooperation from Trump in combating these issues.
During their meeting, Trump warmly welcomed Modi at the West Wing lobby in Washington. The two leaders shared a friendly embrace, with Trump expressing, "I missed you a lot," to which Modi responded, "I am happy to see you too." As part of his U.S. visit, PM Modi also met with SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOE) chief. They discussed various topics, including space exploration, technology, and innovation.
