Moffitt Renames GU Clinic After Donor Nilesh Mehta Following $1.25M Contribution

New Jersey, Jersey City: Indian American philanthropist and bladder cancer survivor Nilesh Mehta has made a generous $1.25 million donation to support cancer research, leading Moffitt Cancer Center to rename its Genitourinary (GU) clinic in his honor.

The Tampa-based Moffitt Cancer Center has officially unveiled the Nilesh Mehta GU Clinic, recognizing Mehta’s impactful support toward advancing cancer treatment and innovation.

A former patient at Moffitt, Mehta, received successful treatment for bladder cancer two years ago. In gratitude, he established the Nilesh Mehta Bladder Cancer Research Fund to further research in this area.

Since the mid-1990s, Mehta has been active in the healthcare industry, funding the creation and global distribution of vital medical diagnostic tools. He has developed manufacturing hubs in Gujarat, India, and New Jersey, expanding access to crucial health diagnostics internationally.

In addition to his work in healthcare, Mehta held the role of national president for the Indian American Forum for Political Education from 2004 through 2026, promoting civic involvement and political engagement within the Indian American community.

Moffitt Cancer Center is one of only 57 institutions in the U.S. recognized by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center, renowned for its cutting-edge research and integrated approach to cancer care.
