New York City, NY, USA: The New York chapter of World Vegan Vision recently held its annual Thanksgiving luncheon in Roslyn Heights on December 7, celebrating plant-based lifestyles through discussions on health, ethics, and environmental responsibility, complemented by a keynote on the science and spirituality of veganism.
The event, held at Mahal Restaurant, brought together community members, healthcare practitioners, and supporters to emphasise wellness, compassion, and sustainable living.
Sumeet Bahl, the keynote speaker, highlighted both the spiritual and scientific advantages of veganism, explaining how intentional dietary choices can foster personal well-being while aligning with ethical and societal values. His talk framed veganism as a lifestyle rooted in mindfulness, conscious decisions, and compassionate action.
Additional sessions provided insights into Blue Zones, longevity, plant-based nutrition, and the preventive power of whole-food diets in promoting long-term health. Participants also explored the environmental consequences of animal agriculture, including greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and land pressures from industrial farming.
The gathering emphasised principles of ahimsa, compassion, and mindfulness, underscoring the ethical and spiritual aspects of sustainable living. A guided meditation session encouraged attendees to connect dietary awareness with daily mindful practices.
The program also honoured founders, past chapter presidents, and community leaders for their dedication to the organisation’s mission. New leadership appointments within the New York chapter were announced as part of ongoing efforts to engage and strengthen the local community.
Live music and a fully vegan Thanksgiving meal offered attendees opportunities to connect, socialise, and learn in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
