London, UK: NRI Held for Allegedly Misleading Woman With Fake Marriage Assurances
The victim claims the accused misled her with a marriage proposal and later deserted her after moving overseas.
Hyderabad: A Non-Resident Indian (NRI) was recently taken into custody at the Hyderabad airport for reportedly duping a woman by making a fake commitment to marry her and then relocating abroad.
The accused, identified as V Shashank, is said to have entered into a romantic relationship with the woman by misleading her about his intentions to marry, only to abandon her later after moving to the UK.
Details of the Alleged Deception
According to available information, the woman, who lives in Ameerpet, initially met Shashank in Bengaluru. Their acquaintance gradually developed into a close relationship.
Shashank allegedly assured her of marriage, and they eventually began living together.
Around two years ago, he moved to the United Kingdom, citing plans for higher education. Before leaving, he reaffirmed his promise to marry her upon returning.
However, after reaching the UK, Shashank reportedly started ignoring her attempts to contact him and eventually blocked her.
Left with no other option, the woman approached the SR Nagar police and lodged a complaint in December 2023.
Accused Nabbed at Hyderabad Airport
After receiving the complaint, police booked a case and circulated a lookout notice for Shashank.
Recently, officials received information about his impending return to the country. As soon as he landed at Hyderabad airport, a police team apprehended and took him into custody.
