Doha, Qatar: Outreach Qatar is actively assisting Indian children with disabilities, bringing happiness not only to the children but also to their families.
According to Andhra Jyothi Gulf Correspondent Irfan, every child carries a unique emotional state. Some are unable to speak, others cannot see, and some face challenges in walking. There are also children whose hands or legs do not function properly. All of them are Divyangjan. The emotional struggle parents endure when raising a child with a mental or physical disability cannot be put into words. Living abroad adds to their hardship, as families face isolation and limited support systems. In such circumstances, Outreach Qatar stands out as one of the few non governmental organizations in the Gulf region dedicated to strengthening parents who feel helpless and to filling the lives of children with happiness, confidence, and emotional growth.
In India, Divyangjan often rely heavily on financial assistance from the government and charitable contributors. However, in Qatar and other Gulf nations, emotional encouragement and moral support play a far greater role than monetary aid. For the past two years, Outreach Qatar has continued its activities with the backing of the Embassy of India in Qatar and the local Indian community. The organization has focused on educating parents about the inherent abilities and potential of Indian expatriate children with disabilities.
Krishna Kumar, recently elected as the president of Outreach Qatar, stated that the organization currently supports around 80 children with disabilities. Widely respected among Telugu expatriates in Qatar, he is actively involved in various social and cultural groups. He has served as an executive member of Outreach Qatar since its beginning and has now taken on the leadership role as president.
Krishna Kumar explained that the organization is working to support children based on their age groups. Along with academic learning and skill development, efforts are also being made to encourage interest in sports and physical activities among the children.
He added that special training sessions are being organized for both children with disabilities and their parents. These programs aim to provide emotional strength and guidance on effective caregiving practices.
He further noted that it is deeply fulfilling to witness the active and enthusiastic involvement of children with disabilities in events organized by Outreach Qatar on various occasions, including Childrens Day on November 14. The organization remains committed to increasing participation and motivation on a daily basis.
In the newly formed leadership team, Sameer Moosa was elected as vice president, Santosh Pillai as general secretary, and Lakshmi Chokkalingam along with Naveen Priya as joint secretaries. The executive committee also appointed Avinash Gaikwad as chairman of the advisory council.
