During his State Visit, PM Narendra Modi was conferred Brazil’s top civilian award, the Grand Collar of the National Order of the Southern Cross, marking his 26th international honour since 2014 and third on his current five-nation tour.
Welcomed in Brasilia by President Lula da Silva with full military honours, Modi held talks on trade, defence, climate change, and BRICS, followed by a signing ceremony and State Lunch.
Calling it a “proud moment for 140 crore Indians,” PM Modi hailed President Lula as a crucial ally in strengthening ties and proposed boosting India-Brazil trade to $20 billion within five years.
Other Recent Awards
PM Modi was recently bestowed with the highest civilian honour of Trinidad & Tobago and Ghana’s esteemed Officer of the Order of the Star.
He was also awarded top civilian honours by Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and Cyprus this year.
