PM Modi Stay at Blair House: A Symbol of Prestigious Hospitality in the U.S.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Washington, D.C., as part of his U.S. visit, where he is set to meet President Trump and tech leader Elon Musk. Upon his arrival, he received a grand welcome from the Indian diaspora. During this trip, PM Modi is staying at Blair House, one of the most exclusive guest residences in the world, located at 1651 Pennsylvania Avenue, directly opposite the White House. This house is reserved for distinguished international guests, including heads of state and royalty.

Blair House is not just a luxurious guesthouse but also a symbol of American hospitality. Spanning approximately 70,000 square feet, it connects four buildings into one grand residence. It consists of 119 rooms, including 14 bedrooms, 35 bathrooms, and three dining rooms. Additionally, it features a state-of-the-art beauty salon. Guests here receive five-star hospitality, and the house is adorned with antique artifacts and artworks that reflect American history. Built in 1824, it was purchased in 1837 by Preston Francis Blair, after whom it was named.

Following World War II, visits from global leaders to the White House increased significantly. To accommodate them, the U.S. government leased Blair House in 1942 and later purchased it for $156,000 by the end of that year. During his visit, PM Modi also met Tulsi Gabbard, the newly appointed Director of National Intelligence, to discuss various matters of mutual interest.
