Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit India later this year, with dates being finalised, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval confirmed during a visit to Moscow.
He described the upcoming summit as a pivotal point in India-Russia relations. While reports initially suggested a visit in August 2025, the timeline remains under discussion.
The visit comes amid global attention and increasing pressure from former US President Donald Trump, who recently imposed a 25% tariff on India, raising total duties to 50%.
Trump criticised India for profiting from reselling Russian oil, accusing it of ignoring the human cost of the Ukraine war.
The situation has sparked questions about a potential new Modi-Putin strategy.
