Sanjna Srinivasan Elected Drexel 2025 Student Government President

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA: Sanjna Srinivasan, an Indian-American biomedical engineering student, has been named president of Drexel University’s Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA) for the 2025–26 academic year. Her focus will be on amplifying student voices through transparency, teamwork, and partnerships with other universities.

Elected at the close of the spring quarter, Srinivasan will assume the role alongside newly appointed vice president Lucy Nightingale.

A member of the Class of 2027, Srinivasan steps into leadership amid ongoing academic and administrative reforms at Drexel. She sees the timing as both a challenge and a chance to make an impact. “Coming in during a period of change provides us with a unique opportunity to engage with the process and influence it positively,” she said.

Srinivasan brings a history of leadership within the USGA. She began her involvement as a freshman on the Student Life Committee, later serving as vice chair and chair before being elected president. “My experience with USGA has been centered on enhancing student life and doing everything possible to improve the campus experience,” she shared.

Outside of student government, Srinivasan serves as a resident assistant at Kelly Hall, mentors incoming students as a student ambassador, and is actively involved in biomedical research at the master’s level. She believes these roles strengthen her commitment to fostering better communication, openness, and collaboration between students and university administrators.

One of her priorities is to expand cooperation with the Philly Student Government Association (PSGA), a student-led network across universities. “It highlights the dedication of student leaders and allows us to share knowledge about our campuses while building stronger connections,” she explained.

As president, Srinivasan intends to act as a liaison between undergraduates and decision-makers, ensuring that student perspectives remain a central part of Drexel University’s development.
