Sniper Attack On Idaho Firefighters Leaves 2 Dead, Several Injured

At least two people were killed and several were injured after gunmen ambushed firefighters battling a blaze in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. The incident, described by Governor Brad Little as a "heinous direct assault," involved sniper fire from rugged terrain.

One suspected shooter was later found dead. The fire continued to rage in Kootenai County as law enforcement exchanged gunfire. Civilians were still being evacuated, and authorities advised avoiding the Canfield Mountain Trailhead and nearby roads. The FBI has joined the investigation.

The U.S. continues to face frequent mass shootings, with 189 such incidents reported this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
