Washington, D.C., USA: The Foundation described the new policy as a regressive step at a time when the United States should be encouraging skilled professionals to maintain its global edge. It urged lawmakers to focus on reforms that increase opportunities rather than impose new restrictions.
On September 22, the South Asian Bar Association of North America Foundation strongly denounced the presidential executive directive that mandates a $100,000 fee for H-1B visa applications. The group labeled the move “unfair and unreasonable,” cautioning that it would create anxiety and uncertainty for immigrant workers and their families.
In its official statement, the Foundation argued that the order disproportionately impacts South Asian immigrants and undermines their long-standing contributions to the American economy.
