TANA Honors Telangana Talents at Virtual Sahitya Meet

Dallas, Texas, USA: For over five and a half years, the TANA Literature Department has been organizing literary conferences on the last Sunday of every month under the aegis of TANA World Sahitya Vedi. The 84th International Virtual Conference was held this Sunday, coinciding with the observance of the death anniversary of Kaloji Narayana Rao and the celebration of Telangana State Telugu Language Day.

The virtual event, titled “Talents on Telangana Soil,” was organized successfully under the guidance of TANA World Sahitya Vedika Coordinator Chigurumalla Srinivas, who welcomed the guests and officially inaugurated the meeting. He highlighted that many literary figures born in Telangana have made remarkable contributions, and it was a special occasion to remember some of them on Kaloji’s birth anniversary.

Dr. Prasad Thotakura, Organizer of the TANA World Literature Forum, emphasized that the talents emerging from Telugu soil shine not only in the two Telugu-speaking states but also nationally and internationally. He noted that achievements in literature, music, education, science, business, cinema, politics, sports, and social service bring pride to every Telugu heart. He added that Telangana State Telugu Language Day is an apt occasion to honor individuals from Telangana who have made significant contributions to literature, whose work will inspire future generations.

The Chief Guest, Acharya Dr. Anumandla Bhumaiah (Former Vice-Chancellor, Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad), spoke about Padma Vibhushan Kaloji Narayana Rao as a multilingual scholar and public poet, noting his imprisonment for his candid criticism of social issues, especially the policies of the Nizam government.

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Jurru Chennaiah (Eminent Litterateur and General Secretary of Telangana Saraswat Parishad), highlighted contributions of literary figures including Devulapalli Ramanuja Rao, Dr. K.D.D. Mrinalini, Acharya Dr. Ramaraja Rangaraju Padma, and the famous Oddiraju brothers, Seetharamachandra Rao and Raghava Ranga Rao.

Other notable participants included Dr. V. Jayaprakash, Dr. Raya Rao Surya Prakash Rao, Dr. Kapilavai Lingamurthy, Dr. Brahmanapalli Jayaramulu, Sridhar Rao Deshpande, Dr. Samala Sadasiva, and Dr. Kondapalli Niharini. Each shared insights on the works of eminent writers and scholars of Telangana, celebrating their legacy and contributions.

The event successfully showcased the rich literary heritage of Telangana and highlighted the talents nurtured on its soil, leaving participants inspired and proud.
