Milpitas, California, USA: Jeswanth Manikonda, a 36-year-old non-resident Indian (NRI) originally from Tirupati, has been arrested in California for allegedly harassing his wife. Authorities confirmed that he faces charges related to domestic violence and disobeying a court-issued protective order.
Following a formal complaint lodged by the victim, the Milpitas Police Department (MPD), in collaboration with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, launched a joint investigation. After gathering sufficient evidence, officers detained Jeswanth Manikonda in connection with the case
According to police reports, the Santa Clara Superior Court issued an arrest warrant against the accused, after which he was taken into custody and transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail. Later, he was shifted to the Elmwood Correctional Facility. Multiple charges have been filed under various legal sections. However, sources confirmed that the accused has been released on bail.
Reacting to the incident, NGO representative Taruni emphasised the importance of ensuring the safety, dignity, and justice of victims. She stated that domestic violence cases require prompt action from both the police and judicial authorities to ensure speedy justice. Taruni also urged victims to approach verified support organisations immediately when facing such situations. She highlighted the need to enhance legal assistance and protection systems for immigrant families affected by domestic abuse.
