US President Donald Trump, reflecting on faith after surviving an assassination attempt, told Fox News that brokering peace in Ukraine might be his path to “heaven,” framing the war’s end as both a political and spiritual mission.
The 79-year-old admitted he was “at the bottom of the totem pole” spiritually but hoped this would count in his favor.
Trump, previously twice-impeached and now the first president with a criminal conviction, has leaned heavily into faith during his second term, appointing spiritual adviser Paula White and hosting prayer sessions at the White House.
His press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, affirmed he was serious about his comments, noting Trump’s desire “to get to heaven.”
