US President Donald Trump held a brief 0.36-second meeting with Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif on the UNGA sidelines on Tuesday.
Sharif was joined by senior officials, though Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir did not attend.
The discussion was informal, with details unreported. Reports suggest a possible future White House meeting on September 25. This was Sharif’s first meeting with Trump since the April Pahalgam attack.
Trump, speaking at the UNGA, reiterated his role in preventing the India-Pakistan conflict and ending seven wars in seven months, emphasizing saving lives over awards.
He also held a multilateral Gaza meeting with leaders from Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan.
Informal exchange followed the dialogue between President Trump and leaders of eight Islamic-Arab countries, including Pakistan. Prime Minister @CMShehbaz and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator @MIshaqDar50 joined President @realDonaldTrump in the discussion. pic.twitter.com/Ku0Iaycha8
