President Trump has imposed a 50% tariff on Indian goods, doubling the earlier 25%.
Announced on Wednesday, the decision comes as a reaction to India’s continued oil trade with Russia.
President Trump formalized the decision through an executive order, setting the new 50% tariff to take effect on August 27, 2025.
Indian goods shipped before this date and arriving in the United States by September 17, 2025, will not be subject to the new duty.
This tariff will be added on top of existing import taxes, with possible exemptions granted in select cases.
