U.S. President Donald Trump is making efforts to put an end to the Ukraine war. In this context, there are chances that he might speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump mentioned that he would discuss a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia with Putin. He indicated that a phone conversation with Putin might take place, stating that several measures were taken last week for a peace deal and that they would try to stop the war. Discussions would also include territorial agreements and power plants.

A few days ago, U.S. diplomat Steve Whitkoff stated that Putin and Trump would discuss adherence to a ceasefire agreement with Ukraine. Recently, Whitkoff met Putin in Moscow, and he mentioned that the talks had a positive outcome. According to him, both Russian and Ukrainian representatives are open to negotiations. In a recent meeting led by the U.S. in Jeddah, Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, and Russia is also reportedly in favor of the proposal, albeit with some conditions.

Given this backdrop, the phone conversation between Trump and Putin is expected to be crucial.
