U.S. President Donald Trump has taken a firm stance on reciprocal tariffs, making it clear that there will be no compromises on tax matters. During discussions on reciprocal tariffs, Trump defended the taxes imposed on countries, including India. He emphasized that the U.S. is a reciprocal nation, meaning it will respond in kind to how other countries impose taxes on American goods.
Trump stated that if any country, including India, imposes lower tariffs on American goods, the U.S. will do the same. However, if high tariffs are imposed, America will respond with equal charges. He specifically pointed out that Europe poses significant challenges due to its high import duties on U.S. products. Trump accused European nations of taking unfair advantage of trade policies.
Focusing on India, Trump remarked that tariffs there are considerably high. He stressed that the U.S. would impose the same level of duties as India applies to American goods. According to him, these high tariffs are limiting the export of American products to India, causing financial losses to the United States.
