Trump Warns EU Over 3.5B USD Fine on Google, Backs US Tech Giants Google and Apple

Washington, D.C, USA:  U.S. President Donald Trump has intervened after the European Union imposed massive penalties on American tech firms. Both Google and Apple have received Trump’s backing, as he criticized the EU for targeting companies from the United States with heavy fines.

The European Union recently issued significant penalties against Google and Apple, leaving both tech giants unsettled. Google, in particular, was ordered to pay $3.5 billion over allegations of giving preference to its own advertising services. In Indian currency, this amounts to over ₹3 lakh crore, a staggering blow that has put the company under immense pressure.

Following this, President Trump came forward in support of the companies. He condemned the EU’s actions, calling the fines unfair and politically motivated. Taking to his own social media platform, The Truth, on Friday, Trump openly warned the European Union, demanding that the penalties be revoked without delay.

He further cautioned that if the EU fails to withdraw these fines, the U.S. government may resort to Section 301 trade proceedings. “I will not allow unlawful penalties against American companies that pay their taxes in our country,” Trump stated, making it clear that he prioritizes protecting domestic businesses that contribute heavily to the U.S. economy.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, Google’s parent company Alphabet recently won an antitrust case verdict in its favor. CEO Sundar Pichai expressed gratitude to President Trump for extending support during this challenging time and acknowledged the government’s assistance.
