Indianapolis, Indiana, USA: Authorities in the U.S. state of Indiana arrested two Indian truck drivers after discovering a massive quantity of cocaine hidden inside a commercial semi-truck during a routine stop in Putnam County. A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 309 pounds (about 140 kilograms) of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $7 million.
The suspects were identified as Gurpreet Singh, 25, and Jasveer Singh, 30, both Indian nationals operating the truck with California-issued commercial drivers licenses. Investigators said the amount of cocaine recovered was enough to cause fatal overdoses for more than 113,000 people. Both men have been charged with felony drug trafficking offenses under Indiana law, with additional charges possible as the investigation continues.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed immigration holds on the accused while officials review their legal status in the country. Indiana authorities described the case as one of the region’s significant drug seizures involving commercial trucking routes, highlighting growing concerns over the misuse of freight networks for large-scale narcotics trafficking.
