U.S. Deports Pakistani Envoy Amid Travel Ban Speculations

Several international media reports indicate that the U.S. is considering imposing a travel ban on Pakistan and Afghanistan amid domestic job cuts and increased tariffs on foreign countries. In this context, a significant development has come to light. Pakistani diplomat Ahsan Wagan, who was serving as Pakistan’s envoy to Turkmenistan, was denied entry into the U.S. and sent back. Reports suggest that U.S. immigration officials stopped him at Los Angeles Airport despite having proper documentation.

Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that Wagan was expelled because his visa contained "controversial references" identified by U.S. immigration authorities. He further mentioned that Pakistan has instructed its consulate in Los Angeles to investigate the matter. There is a possibility that Wagan will be called back to Islamabad for further discussions. However, the U.S. has yet to provide complete details regarding the incident.

After assuming office for a second term, President Trump signed multiple executive orders. One such order mandates a preemptive assessment of national security risks posed by foreign travelers entering the U.S. As per this directive, a list of countries facing partial or complete travel bans must be prepared and submitted by March 12. Reliable sources suggest that Afghanistan is already on this list, with Pakistan also expected to be included.
