The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially launched the first phase of its 10-year residency permit, the Blue Visa. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) during the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai. In this phase, 20 sustainability leaders and innovators will receive the Blue Visa in recognition of their contributions to environmental sustainability.
The Blue Visa is designed for individuals actively supporting environmental efforts, including members of international organizations, companies, NGOs, global award winners, and researchers. The UAE first introduced the concept in May 2024 as part of its broader goal to become a global leader in sustainability and environmental innovation.
To apply, candidates can either submit a direct application through the ICP platform or be nominated by UAE authorities based on their contributions. The ICP offers 24/7 access to the application process via its website and mobile app. The initiative aims to enhance sustainability leadership and support the UAE’s national environmental goals.
