US Court Declares Trumps Tariffs Illegal, President Defends Them

A U.S. appeals court struck down the bulk of Donald Trump’s tariffs, declaring that authority to levy such trade duties rests solely with Congress.

Trump rejected the decision, insisting the tariffs stay and warning their removal would be a “total disaster.”

The ruling challenges tariffs on China, Mexico, Canada, and India, but excludes steel and aluminium duties.

The administration plans to appeal to the Supreme Court, where conservatives hold a majority. For now, tariffs remain in place, keeping trade tensions high.
