US Supreme Court Approves Extradition of 26/11 Convict Tahawwur Rana to India

Washington, USA: The US Supreme Court has approved the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, convicted for his involvement in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, to India by rejecting his petition to review his conviction. Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani descent, had previously lost multiple legal battles, including one at the US Court of Appeals.

Rana, who is 64 and currently held in Los Angeles, had argued that the charges India sought to prosecute him for were the same ones he was acquitted of in the US. However, the US government countered that the charges against him in India were distinct from those in the US case, particularly related to forgery and false information.

Rana's extradition is linked to his association with David Coleman Headley, a key conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, which killed 166 people, including six Americans.
