Ontario, Canada: D. Mitra played a crucial role as the Waterloo Warriors handed a shocking defeat to defending champions Mississauga Premiers, winning by eight wickets.
At Danville Park in Mississauga on September 1, Terisha and Mitra stitched together an unbeaten 63-run stand for the third wicket, guiding the Warriors to victory with just four balls remaining in the final of the World T10 Women’s Series.
The Warriors wrapped up the chase as Terisha remained not out on 32, finishing the game with her second six of the innings, while Mitra provided steady support with an unbeaten 17.
Mississauga captain Indowatie Goordial had given her team a strong start by dismissing both Waterloo openers in her very first over, finishing with remarkable figures of 2 for 3. However, once Terisha and Mitra settled in, they capitalized on every loose delivery and calmly steered their side home.
The grand finale capped off two days of thrilling cricket, showcasing the growing strength of women’s sport in Canada.
Across the two-day, seven-match tournament, players not only displayed top-quality cricket but also helped promote women’s involvement in community sports. On the opening day, Councillor Natalie Hart announced key upgrades at Danville Park, including women’s washrooms and new floodlights — initiatives driven by the success of the World T10 Women’s Series.
Batting first in the final, Mississauga Premiers posted a competitive 75 for one in their allotted 10 overs, thanks to skipper Goordial, who notched her second half-century of the event off 31 balls. Chasing 76, the Warriors slipped to 13 for 2 before Terisha and Mitra’s resilient partnership took them across the finish line against all odds.
