What Roles Will Anjali Sud and Sanjay Seth Play in Harvard Future?

Cambridge, Massachusetts: Anjali Sud has been appointed to Harvard University's Board of Overseers, while Sanjay Seth has been elected as one of the newest directors of the Harvard Alumni Association (HAA).

According to a release from the Harvard Gazette, Anjali Sud, the current CEO of Tubi and former CEO of Vimeo, and historian Sanjay Seth, a professor at Goldsmiths, University of London, are assuming significant leadership positions at Harvard. Sud joins the Board of Overseers, while Seth begins his role as an HAA director.

Both are alumni of Indian descent and will commence their terms this summer. Sud’s appointment to the Board of Overseers becomes effective on May 30. Seth’s three-year tenure with the HAA board will start on July 1.

Sud, raised in Flint, Michigan, by Punjabi immigrant parents, was born in Detroit. She completed her MBA at Harvard Business School in 2011 and holds an undergraduate degree in finance and management from the University of Pennsylvania. Known for her achievements in the tech and media sectors, she led Vimeo’s IPO in 2021 and now heads the streaming service Tubi. Additionally, she is a board member at Dolby Laboratories and Change.org.

Seth, who graduated from Harvard Kennedy School in 2019 with dual master’s degrees, is recognized for his contributions to postcolonial scholarship. Originally from Australia, he studied in Sydney and Canberra and has held academic roles in cities including Tokyo, Melbourne, and London.

The Board of Overseers, Harvard’s second-most senior governing body after the Corporation, plays a vital role in academic oversight and advising university leadership. Sud will serve a two-year term, completing the remainder of a vacancy left by Mark Carney.

As an HAA director, Seth will help strengthen alumni relations, encourage volunteer involvement, and build connections among Harvard graduates around the world. The board has placed increasing emphasis on inclusive engagement, especially with recent alumni.

Sud and Seth join a wider group of incoming leaders. New members of the Board of Overseers include NPR’s All Things Considered host Mary Louise Kelly, SAG-AFTRA Foundation president and actor Courtney B. Vance, and former Merck chief medical officer Michael Rosenblatt.

Among the newly chosen HAA directors are Olympic gold medalist and Sports Innovation Lab co-founder Angela Ruggiero and Nicholas Melvoin, a school board member from Los Angeles.

This year’s elections saw participation from more than 39,000 Harvard alumni in the Board of Overseers race and over 41,000 in the HAA elections. Both boards are set to officially welcome their new members during summer meetings on campus.
