Will Putin Be Arrested? ICC Warrant Hangs Over Trump Meeting Plans

Russian President Vladimir Putin faces an ICC arrest warrant for allegedly deporting over 16,000 Ukrainian children.

Despite this, he’s planning a possible meeting with Donald Trump, likely in the UAE, which doesn’t recognize the ICC.

The ICC, based in The Hague, prosecutes war crimes but lacks enforcement power and relies on member states for arrests. Russia, the US, China, and India aren’t members, limiting its reach.

Putin has traveled to China, North Korea, and even ICC member Mongolia without arrest. Russia has dismissed the ICC’s legitimacy and responded by issuing its warrants against the court’s officials. With many ICC warrants unenforced, accountability remains uncertain.
