Brad Wendt, the former police chief of Adair, Iowa, has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for falsifying information to obtain and sell machine guns for personal profit. Convicted in February, Wendt was found guilty of making false statements to the ATF, conspiracy, and illegal possession of a machine gun. Despite his attorney's intent to appeal, evidence showed Wendt sold machine guns for around $80,000 and acquired some for his personal gun store.
