India Mourns Ratan Tata: Hundreds Gather to Pay Last Tribute to Indias Iconic Ratan Tata

MUMBAI: In Mumbai today, hundreds of fans and admirers gathered to pay their final respects to Ratan Tata, one of India's most revered business leaders, who passed away at the age of 86.

As chairman of the Tata Group for over two decades, Tata steered numerous companies toward exceptional success, with a revenue of $165 billion in the 2023-24 fiscal year. His exceptional leadership and philanthropic efforts earned him widespread admiration and respect.

Though Tata had stepped back from active management in recent years, he continued to serve as a trusted advisor to Tata Sons, providing valuable input on major decisions.

Tributes have poured in from across the globe, reflecting his significant influence on both business and society. On social media platform X, U.S. Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti described him as “a giant with a giant heart,” while Google CEO Sundar Pichai lauded his mentorship and commitment to India’s progress.

Ratan Tata’s body, draped in the Indian national flag, was placed at a cultural center in Mumbai, where a state funeral with full honors will be held later today.

Among the prominent figures who visited to pay their respects were India’s central bank governor Shaktikanta Das, Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran, and Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla.

Tata’s legacy goes far beyond his business achievements. A licensed pilot and philanthropist, he was widely admired for his humility and generosity.

Cornell University, his alma mater, remembered him as their most generous international benefactor, emphasizing his transformative contributions. As India and the world say farewell to this visionary leader, his lasting impact on business, society, and humanity will be remembered and cherished for generations.

Millions of his followers remain in shock and deep grief over the loss of one of India's most iconic figures. The nation will always remember Ratan Tata’s immense contributions to India's success.
