In Hong Kong, the Telugu community celebrated Shree Krodhi Nama Sanshavara Ugadi with great enthusiasm. Hosted by 'The Hong Kong Telugu Samakhya', the event saw the presence of esteemed guests including K. Venkata Ramana, Consul General of India for Hong Kong and Macao, Mass. Ai Yung, District Officer - Islands, Hong Kong Home Affairs Department, Lal Hardasani, President of The Hindu Association, and Ustad Ghulam Siraj, Chairman of Punhaka, among others.
The ceremony commenced with Venkata Ramana lighting the ceremonial lamp and delivering a speech, acknowledging the commendable efforts of the association in preserving language and culture. The cultural extravaganza featured mesmerizing performances, including traditional dances like Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, Tollywood songs, and entertaining comedy plays featuring flute and ukulele instruments, much to the delight of the audience.
During the event, Venkata Ramana honored volunteers, Telugu school teachers, and participants of local and international marathons, including the Oxfam Trail Walker. Jaya Peesapati, the founding president of the association, expressed gratitude and highlighted the challenges of organizing such events in a city as expensive as Hong Kong, noting the upcoming sports day in June as their next endeavor.
Members of the Samakhya Executive Committee, including Jaya Peesapati, Rajasekhar Manne, Ramesh Reniguntla, and others, along with enthusiastic participants, contributed to the success of the celebration.
