California, USA: Nanda Ganesan, professor and chair of the Department of Information Systems at California State University (CSU), Los Angeles, received the prestigious CSU Wang Family Excellence Award during the Board of Trustees meeting on January 28. The award, which includes a $20,000 prize, recognizes his outstanding contributions to teaching, scholarship, and student success. Ganesan was one of five individuals selected across the 23 CSU campuses for this honor in 2025.
Throughout his tenure, Ganesan led transformative changes to the university’s computer information systems program, introducing specialized areas like cybersecurity, data analytics, and software development. He also co-founded one of California’s first graduate programs in information systems.
Known for his innovative teaching, Ganesan revamped the management information systems course, praised for its high-quality online delivery. His numerous accolades include the Fulbright Award and the Cal State LA President’s Distinguished Professor Award.
Expressing his gratitude, Ganesan credited the students at Cal State LA for inspiring his career, while University President Berenecea Johnson Eanes commended his pioneering methods and leadership.
