Canada Gang War: Indian-Origin Men Sentenced to Life for Revenge Murders of Two Fellow NRI Drug Dealers

Ottawa, Canada: Two Indian-origin men, Jaskaran Singh Sidhu and Prabhjyot Bhatti, have been sentenced to life in prison for the 2019 revenge killings of two drug dealers in Calgary, Canada. The murders were linked to a gang war stemming from a 2016 stabbing incident. The victims, Jasdeep Singh and Japneet Malhi were ambushed outside a lounge and killed by gunfire.

The killings were ordered by Amandeep Saggu, an Indian-origin gang member seeking vengeance for a 2016 attack. Saggu, who was involved in the murders, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and received an eight-year sentence. The convicted men will serve life terms with no parole for 25 years, though they have filed appeals citing trial errors.

The case highlights ongoing gang violence among Indian-origin communities in Canada and the deadly consequences of revenge-driven crime.
