US Election 2024: Trump Narrowly Leads Harris by 2 Points, Fox News Poll Shows

A Fox News national poll reveals a tight race for the US presidency, with former President Donald Trump slightly ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump has garnered 50% of voter support, edging out Harris, who stands at 48%.

With just 18 days left until the 2024 election on November 5, the competition is heating up. Voters are keen to see whether Trump will reclaim the presidency or if Harris will make history. Numerous polls are being conducted to gauge who might have the advantage as election day nears.

The latest Fox News poll shows Trump leading Harris by a slim margin. While Harris had a slight edge last month, Trump has now surpassed her. However, Harris maintains a 6-point lead in seven key swing states. In counties where the 2020 election margin between Biden and Trump was less than 10 points, both candidates are tied at 49%. Trump has a more significant lead in counties where he won by more than 10 points in 2020, while Harris performs better in areas where Biden won by similar margins.

Harris has strong backing from key groups such as college graduates, women, Black voters, and Hispanic Americans. Trump, meanwhile, leads among non-college graduates, men, and white voters. The poll, conducted from October 11 to 14, surveyed 1,110 voters, 870 of whom are considered likely voters. Trump's lead is currently 2 points.

Last month, when Harris held a 2-point lead, Trump surged by 4 points nationally, largely due to a 10-point rise in support from white voters. He also saw record backing from voters aged 65 and older (49%) and those with a college degree (48%).

Both candidates are battling for the crucial 270 electoral votes needed to win. The race remains intensely competitive in battleground states, with both Trump and Harris projected to secure around 200 electoral votes. As the November 5 election approaches, the final outcome remains uncertain.
