About:
Sha'can is a marga (way or path) within Tantra. It is a sampradaya, an authentic lineage tradition, born from and honoring of the teachers of old, relevant to the circumstances of today, and grounded in the potentials of tomorrow. It is passed on in continuation of the lineage through diksha, or initiatory blessing.
Sha'can is at once groundbreaking and what has always happened with Goddess worshipers in and beyond India; for we yearn, revitalize and transform as community requires. Today, ours is an engaged spirituality that activates a rooted category of challenge to the dominant culture in which we live. As such, we seek liberation as bhaktas (devotees) who treasure the temple of the world through this incarnation, and we are committed to expanding Tantric worship in ways that sanctify earth-based, embodied spirituality and (r)evolutionize potentials for social justice and peace on our planet.
In our tradition, we teach tools for the affirmation of shakti (the female principle) in self and world. We celebrate the commonalities of thought and practice that bring the marginal to center, helping the voiceless and dominated find spaces for blossoming, healing and bliss. Our roots are deep in ancient consciousness and practices of worship that have lived for millennia in the hearts of humanity. The work of our devotion is to follow the principles of Śākta Tantra. We honor the Divine as She, the Divine energy that facilitates our spiritual journey by taking us beyond our fears, beyond our egos, beyond our attachments, and into liberation.
