In a recent escalation, India expelled six Canadian diplomats following accusations of "baseless targeting" against Indian officials in Canada. This diplomatic crisis intensified after Trudeau claimed credible allegations linking India to the assassination of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed outside a gurdwara in Canada in June 2023.
