Why Has Uddhav Thackeray Been Admitted to Reliance Hospital?

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has been admitted to Reliance Hospital in Mumbai for a check-up to detect potential blockages in his coronary arteries. He began undergoing tests at 8 a.m. on Monday, with angiography anticipated to follow. Thackeray, 64, has a history of heart procedures, including two angioplasties, one in 2012 where eight stents were placed due to multiple blockages in his heart's main arteries.

In November 2012, Thackeray had a second angioplasty to address a 60% blockage in the left anterior descending artery. His son, Aditya Thackeray, mentioned that this check-up was pre-planned, stating that angiograms are typically performed every one to two years post-angioplasty to ensure stent functionality. According to Dr. Mathew Kalarical from Lilavati Hospital, all stents are currently functioning well, allowing Thackeray to resume his normal active life without restrictions.
