Iran Fires Hypersonic Missiles At Israel, Khamenei Declares Battle Begins

Iran fired two missile barrages at Israel early on June 18, 2025, with no reported injuries. The missile barrage, totaling around 25 rockets, activated air raid sirens in central Israel and West Bank areas.

A parking lot fire in central Israel damaged several cars, likely from missile debris. Ayatollah Khamenei declared “the battle begins” and threatened to “show the Zionists no mercy.”

The IRGC claimed it used hypersonic Fattah-1 missiles and said it had full control over Israeli airspace. Drone alerts were also issued near the Dead Sea and northern Israel. The IDF downed a drone reportedly launched by Iran-backed groups in Iraq or Yemen. Smaller attacks occurred earlier, but Israel believes Iran’s capabilities have been weakened by prior strikes.

In response, Israel issued an evacuation alert for Tehran’s District 18 and launched fresh airstrikes. Targets included an IRGC-linked university, a missile facility near Tehran, and a centrifuge site in Karaj. Khamenei intensified his rhetoric, invoking historic Islamic conquests and calling for a relentless offensive against Israel.
