ISKCON’s Swamibagh temple in Dhaka has started three-day Krishna Janmashtami festivities, with thousands attending pujas, kirtans, and cultural events despite fears for Hindu safety.
Muhammad Yunus emphasized Krishna’s wisdom as a guiding light for harmony, calling on people to foster solidarity and understanding among all communities.
Devotees participate in rituals, fairs, and cultural programs, while ISKCON officials say the government is ensuring security, acknowledging past attacks on Hindus and temples.
Reports, including from the UN, highlight ongoing violence against Hindus, including temple demolitions and assaults. India’s MEA and rights groups have raised concerns.
Despite risks, devotees view Janmashtami as a festival of hope. Festivities will run through August 18, featuring vibrant processions, enlightening spiritual talks, and a variety of cultural performances.
