U.S. Ambassador Tom Barak announced a ceasefire between Israeli PM Netanyahu and Syria’s new leader, Ahmed al-Shara, following heavy Israeli airstrikes on Damascus.
The truce has received backing from both Turkey and Jordan.
The strikes, which targeted Syria's military headquarters, were reportedly aimed at protecting the Druze community amid Druze-Bedouin clashes in the Swaidah region.
Barak also urged Syrian minorities to embrace peace and unity via a message on X (Twitter).
