At the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Foreign Ministers' Meeting held in Beijing, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Chinese Vice President Han Zheng and underscored the value of maintaining steady and transparent dialogue between the two nations.
In light of the current global complexities, he emphasized the need for consistent engagement to strengthen mutual understanding.
He conveyed India’s full support for China’s leadership of the SCO this year and reflected on the positive direction of bilateral ties since the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping in Kazan, highlighting the importance of building on that diplomatic momentum.
He also marked 75 years of diplomatic relations and welcomed the revival of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, calling it a meaningful step forward.
Calling for continued normalization, he said India and China, as neighbors and major economies, must keep engaging in open, constructive discussions.
Pleased to meet Vice President Han Zheng soon after my arrival in Beijing today.
