Washington, D.C.,USA: US Vice President JD Vance delivered a blunt response to those directing racist and personal abuse at his wife, Usha Vance, following a wave of hostile remarks circulating online and within political commentary.
In an interview with UnHerd, Vance made it clear that he would not accept attacks on his spouse from any side. He explicitly referenced far-right activist Nick Fuentes and Democratic political strategist Jen Psaki while responding to insults and criticism aimed at Usha Vance.
“Anyone who goes after my wife, whether they are called Jen Psaki or Nick Fuentes, can eat s—,” Vance stated, adding that this position represents his “official policy” as vice president.
The remarks followed backlash after Fuentes employed racially charged language tied to Usha Vance’s Indian background and accused the vice president of betraying his race. Vance firmly denounced such statements, labeling racially or ethnically motivated attacks as “disgusting” and insisting they have no place in American public discourse.
Usha Vance, born to Indian immigrant parents, is a highly accomplished lawyer and previously served as a clerk at the US Supreme Court. Although she has generally remained outside partisan political fights, she has increasingly become a focus of online harassment as her husband’s prominence on the national stage has grown.
Vance emphasized that political disagreements should never devolve into personal or racially driven abuse, warning that tolerating such language undermines fundamental standards of respect and decency in civic life.
The incident highlights broader concerns about the deteriorating tone of political dialogue in the United States, particularly as public officials and their families face intensified scrutiny and harassment in digital spaces.
