A violent blast shook the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Special Operations Bureau in East LA on Friday morning, triggering emergency response and widespread concern.

US Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed three fatalities, though the Sheriff's Department has not verified this.

Governor Gavin Newsom has been briefed, and aerial footage shows the blast happened in a parking lot with patrol cars and box trucks.

Earlier this month, a fireworks facility explosion in Esparto, northern California, left seven people missing and two injured.

The blast caused a massive fire, smaller explosions, and burned 78 acres of vegetation. Authorities are continuing investigations.
