Israel demands the release of all 50 Gaza hostages, rejecting a proposed 60-day ceasefire that would free only some hostages.

Hamas approved the plan, but Israel insists on complete release and total control of Gaza. Families and much of the public favor a deal, while far-right leaders oppose partial agreements.

The conflict began with Hamas’s October 2023 attack, killing 1,200 and taking 251 hostages. Over 62,000 have died in Gaza, most homes are destroyed, and essential services have collapsed.
