Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by the Indian diaspora in London as he began his UK visit focused on strengthening trade, defence, and tech ties.
He will meet UK PM Keir Starmer at Chequers, where the India-UK Free Trade Agreement is expected to be signed.
The FTA includes tariff cuts on 99% of Indian exports, reduced duties on British goods like whisky and cars, and social security exemptions for Indian workers.
India and the United Kingdom saw their bilateral trade reach $55 billion in the 2023–24 financial year, reflecting a strong and growing economic partnership between the two nations.
