Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a two-day diplomatic visit to the Maldives from July 25 to 26, at the invitation of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Male early Thursday, where he was warmly welcomed with an elaborate state ceremony, marking the beginning of his official visit to the Maldives.
Enthusiastic locals lined the streets, waving Indian and Maldivian flags while chanting slogans like "Vande Mataram" and "Bharat Mata ki Jai," creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new areas of cooperation between the two nations.
This is Modi’s third visit to the island nation and, notably, the first visit by any foreign leader since President Muizzu took office, underscoring the strategic significance of India-Maldives ties.
