On Tuesday night, Russia launched a deadly barrage of missiles and drones on Kyiv, striking residential neighborhoods. One drone hit an apartment complex, sparking a massive blaze that left 14 people dead, including a 62-year-old American. Over 40 others sustained injuries and were rushed to hospitals. Emergency teams are still combing through the debris in hopes of finding survivors, as harrowing images of the devastation flood social media platforms.
In response, Ukraine has launched a civilian drone defense program. Volunteers with drone-operating skills will be paid up to Rs 2.2 lakh per month to detect and shoot down Russian drones. The scheme, approved by Ukraine’s cabinet, will be funded locally and run for two years post-martial law.
