Telugu Association of North America (TANA) Organizes Food Donation Drive in New Jersey

Edison, New Jersey, USA: The Telugu Association of North America (TANA) – New Jersey Chapter successfully organized a large-scale community service food donation program, reaffirming its commitment to social responsibility and public service. As part of the initiative, approximately 1,800 pounds of food were collected and distributed to nearly 300 families in partnership with the New Jersey Community Food Bank.

The donated food items were transported to the Hands of Hope Center in Edison, New Jersey, where volunteers efficiently sorted, packed, and prepared them for distribution. The initiative received generous support from East Meadow Estates, South Brunswick, along with contributions from several local donors.

A notable highlight of the event was the enthusiastic participation of children. Vamsi Chandra Narepalupu, Anit Rampuram, and Varsha Chandra Narepalupu actively assisted in food collection and organization activities, reflecting TANA’s efforts to instill a sense of community service among the younger generation.

Sudhir G played a key role in ensuring the smooth execution of the program. Volunteers including Rampuram, Sundar B., Gopinath, Praveen Kalvakollu, and Dasaratha Thalapaneni extended their dedicated support, contributing significantly to the event’s success.

Senior TANA leadership also extended guidance and encouragement. Treasurer Raja Kasukurthy, New Jersey Regional Coordinator Sudhir Chandra Narepalupu, Foundation Treasurer Srinivas Oruganti, Foundation Trustee Satish Meka, and Youth Coordinator Srinivas Cherukuri participated and strengthened the organization’s service-driven mission.

TANA President Naren Kodali and Executive Vice President Srinivas Lau congratulated the New Jersey team for their efforts. Representatives from Hands of Hope, including Charlie, Raj, and Kush, also appreciated the volunteers for their contribution toward supporting families in need.

Organizers stated that the initiative went beyond food distribution, aiming to unite the community through compassion, service, and collective responsibility. Through collaboration with the New Jersey Community Food Bank, the program ensured timely assistance to families facing food insecurity across the state.

With this successful initiative, TANA New Jersey once again demonstrated the impact of volunteerism, youth participation, and community collaboration, continuing its tradition of service beyond cultural activities.
