Hyderabad NRI Student Mohammed Wajid Dies in Fatal Road Crash in the US

Massachusetts, Boston, USA: Mohammed Wajid, a 28-year-old student from Khairatabad, Hyderabad, tragically lost his life in a road accident on January 28 in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Wajid, who had completed his master's degree in Chicago and was actively involved with the NRI Minority Congress Committee in the United States, was driving a semi-truck when the fatal incident occurred.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Wajid failed to stop at a stop sign, causing his truck to collide with a grain truck. The impact caused the grain truck to split in half. Wajid was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other truck’s driver, Timothy Wilkin, was uninjured. The crash, which occurred at 12:42 AM, also triggered a fire in the surrounding fields.

Telangana Congress Secretary Mohammed Shahabuddin expressed his sorrow on X (formerly Twitter), sharing the devastating news. He wrote, “It’s a sorrowful day for me and our Congress family as we lose our beloved friend and colleague, Mohammed Wajid, in a tragic accident in the USA. Wajid was an active leader in the Youth Congress in Khairatabad and a valued member of the NRI Minority Congress Committee. His passion and commitment will be deeply missed.”

Shahabuddin also shared a photo of Wajid with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and ended his post with, “Rest in peace, dear Wajid. You will always be remembered in our hearts.”

This incident follows another heartbreaking road fatality in the US. Just last month, 26-year-old Naga Sri Vandana Parimala, a student at the University of Memphis, tragically lost her life in a car crash in Tennessee. Parimala, who had moved to the US in 2022 for her Master of Science degree, died after a collision around midnight.
