Indian-American Entrepreneur Kumbhani Recognized with Degree from WVU

West Virginia, USA: West Virginia University (WVU) conferred a prestigious degree upon Indian-American entrepreneur Kumbhani, honoring his significant contributions to the fields of finance and technology. WVU President E. Gordon Gee lauded Kumbhani for his groundbreaking work in software and investment management, commending his vision, dedication, and compassion. "Today, we celebrate an individual whose achievements have had a profound impact on the global landscape," said Gee.

Hailing from Mumbai, India, Kumbhani graduated from WVU in 1971 with a degree in electrical engineering. Reflecting on his academic journey, he credited the scholarships he received at WVU as pivotal to his success.

In his address, Kumbhani shared valuable advice with the graduates, urging them to maintain an attitude of humility and gratitude. "It’s all about attitude. Cultivate an attitude of gratitude and humility—it will take you far," he emphasized. He also highlighted the importance of the "three E's"—encourage, empower, and energize—encouraging graduates to lift others as they climb.

Kumbhani also advocated for entrepreneurship, drawing on his experiences with his innovative companies, Source Data Systems and Apex Capital Management. "If the opportunity arises, consider entrepreneurship. It can bring immense satisfaction and likely success," he said, emphasizing that perseverance through challenges had been key to his achievements.

Wrapping up his speech, Kumbhani expressed his pride in being an alumnus of WVU, stating, "Be proud. I am one of the proudest Mountaineers to graduate from this school." He concluded by expressing gratitude to WVU for playing a crucial role in shaping his path to success.
