During his five-day visit to Australia, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi in Brisbane and inaugurated the new Consulate General of India. At Roma Street Parklands, he highlighted Gandhi's enduring message of peace and harmony, emphasizing its global resonance.
Jaishankar expressed optimism about deepening ties with Queensland, discussing economic collaboration with Governor Jeannette Young. He noted that the new consulate would enhance trade, educational connections, and support for the Indian diaspora.
His visit, spanning from November 3 to November 7, included co-chairing the 15th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Canberra. Addressing the Indian community at the University of Queensland, Jaishankar underscored shared democratic values and the significance of the QUAD coalition, which aims to foster a stable global order beyond security concerns.
This diplomatic engagement aims to strengthen the India-Australia partnership and expand cooperation across various sectors.
